Our Board and Train program is designed to create lasting results by building a solid foundation of obedience and focus. Each dog begins with a personalized consultation so we can understand their current behavior, challenges, and goals. From there, your dog will stay with us for at least 4 weeks. During this time, they’ll receive daily, structured training sessions. These sessions will occur in a safe and balanced environment.

By the end of the program, your dog will be more confident, responsive, and easier to live with. Our goal is to give you a well-mannered dog that feels like part of the family.

After adopting Bocephus from the local pound, I quickly learned I needed someone more experienced than me to train this loveable yet highly energetic hound dog who had the manners of a toddler/teenager mixed.  After a very detail and long conversation with Kirk on the phone, Bo and I went to our consultation with Kirk at his home.  There I met Kirk and Bella and felt instantly at ease and knew they were the right ones to help.  Bella was our at home trainer and what more can I saw other than she is truly amazing!  Bo and I both love her and learned so much from her.  Yes I still have a goofy loveable hound dog but he is so well mannered now and it's all thanks to Down & Dirty Dog Training and Bella! He’s friendly and answers any questions I have/had. Bella was the one who trained him and was also friendly and personable. I learned so much from them both and use it daily with my dog. They’re all super personable and did great with our 6 goofy month old golden puppy, Sunny. After 6 weeks of training it was really amazing to see the progress they’ve made! Before training he was reactive to just about everything, now I can handle him with confidence. We can even go out in public and he doesn’t try to eat anyone! She was quite reactive and very much not a public walking pup. She came from an interesting life and we just wanted to make it better for her. This was going to require training beyond what we knew. Posted around looking for a trainer and Kirk with Down & Dirty was mentioned everywhere. Well after the experience, I completely understand why. We booked our consultation which was so welcoming and educational from Kirk. Located right at his home with the most beautiful training setup and boarding program. He’s very transparent and tells you all the details while also sharing his love and passion for dogs. We did the 4 week boarding program for on leash training. He is also mentoring a few other trainers on his team to assist in his growing business. During the process once we agreed, they had sent photos and videos of progress. When we went to get our dog we were made aware of the progress then taught the structure to keep the focus and progress moving forward. Bella was one of the trainers and her “go home” presentation was fantastic to help us understand life at home with our disciplined pup. It’s very very wholesome to see Bella and Kirk treat and talk to our dog like she was their own which proved to us why Kirk and the team at Down & Dirty Dog Training are more than just a business, they are trying to make better dogs but most importantly - better connections from dogs to people. After four weeks of training she had learned all the basic obedience commands: sit, stay, place, come, heel, free etc. and does them reliably. Walking her is a pleasure: she doesn't pull or react to dogs, squirrels etc. She has gone from a wild and crazy puppy to a calmer dog who listens and behaves. Thank you, Kirk!!!

He was informative right off the bat as to what we were looking to accomplish with my girl thru our sessions. He's available all the time for advice, you can send videos of your training to him to see what's not working. Your sessions are based on your level of training, no rush for the next one. I was extremely impressed by the level of care he received and their attention to detail. They were so attentive to even his chronic skin condition. His skin and coat upon pick up made it obvious that he had received some amazing spa treatments while I was away. They responded quickly to all of my questions and concerns. Does my dog get to play with other dogs while at your facility?

Unless it’s two dogs from the same home, we don’t do group-style play. The risk just isn’t worth the reward — your dog’s safety always comes first.

Can I visit my dog during their Board & Train stay?

No visits during training, but you’ll receive photo and video updates along with texts to keep you informed of your dog’s progress.

What should I bring for my dog’s stay?

Please bring an up-to-date copy of vaccination records, enough food for the stay, and any medication your dog needs.

Does my dog get playtime while staying with you?

Yes! Dogs enjoy daily time out of their kennels to run, play, and just be dogs. For Board & Train clients, playtime is balanced around their training schedule.

Do I need to bring a bed or blanket?

No need. Each kennel includes a raised dog bed for comfort and safety. Please avoid bringing blankets or plush beds unless previously discussed.

Is there a set stay-length for Board & Train?

It depends on the goals. Basic obedience can often be completed in 3–4 weeks; more complex behavior issues may require 6–8+ weeks, depending on your dog’s needs and consistency.

How will you handle training transfer to my home?

Every program includes transition training with you. You’ll learn the exact cues, timing, and setup used so your dog can generalize behaviors from our facility to your home.

What methods do you use during training?

We use modern, science-backed, humane methods with positive reinforcement and clear communication. We never rely solely on force or pain-based tools.

What if my dog struggles to adjust early on?

It’s common for dogs to have a brief acclimation period. We monitor closely and adjust routines to reduce stress and build trust quickly.
